Emotional Intelligence: Essential for Leading in 2021 is alumni programing designed to build upon the knowledge acquired through the LINC Redwood County program.
This six-week, intensive leadership program is lead by the University of Minnesota Extension centered around individual growth, while collaborating with fellow LINC alumni.

FOCUS
As technological and other factors increase the pace of change in today’s world, there is a greater need than ever for leaders to develop “emotional intelligence.” Emotional intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges and use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way. How well we develop and use these abilities greatly affects how well we live our lives.
As part of the program, participants will take an online assessment called the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i 2.0®). It is the first scientifically validated instrument created to assess emotionally intelligent behavior. Educators will provide participants with a deeper understanding of core emotional intelligence skills and help to create a self-development plan to enhance their skills in effective relationships, intrapersonal growth and self- management.
Extension Educators, Christy Kallevig and Catie Rasmussen, are both certified administrators of the Emotional Intelligence assessment and will be the lead educators of the program.
DESIGN
In addition to the opportunity to take the EQ-I 2.0 assessment, the program design will offer six 1-hour virtual sessions along with two 45-minute one-on-one coaching sessions. It will also offer the opportunity to develop peer networks as a resource and support for participants.
Program design is based on a minimum participant number of 10 and a maximum of 16. The smaller number of participants provides the opportunity to deepen the relationships with both trainers and peers.
